Today my group and I went to talk to classes about Operation Gratitude. I noticed that the freshmen dont really care about our effort to thank our troops. They think it is a joke

For tomorrow i have planned to help out at lunch with the booth.

Operation Gratitude 12/2/10

1. Today I got the idea of drawing Uncle Sam and writing beneath, "I Want You To Support Our Troops."

2. I printed out a new picture of Uncle Sam because the one i was using was too small to draw from. I also included the text i am going to use.

Campaign Ad

The title of this campaign ad is called "Polygraph." It talks about how Meg Whitman has not been honest with her campaign ads. It also talks about how she got caught in a corrupt insider stock deal. It even states how her home town newspaper has said, " Meg Whitman has demonstrated a loose relationship with the truth." I guess the message in this ad is that Meg Whitman has not been honest with us Californians. Why should we vote for someone that is untrustworthy.

teacher interview

In my teacher interview i asked my english teacher what she thought about corporal punishment and she no because it tends to go overboard and turn into abuse. If it wasn't done out of abuse and instead used to disipline the students, the she would agree to it. I also asked her if the use of technology would help with academic scores. Her response was that eventually it would but right now everything is still done in pen and paper because it helps remember stuff. She also agreed with the fact that more electives would help students because for some kids, its the only reason they come to schoo.

SB 1070 Discussion Reflection

The discussion we had on Wednesday opened my eyes because I thought everyone was against it but apparently not. People made good arguements about the bill that persuaded me into rethinking my ideas about it. I personally think that the United States should use the Braceros program like they did during WWII. People thought this program to be a legal way of slavery. But like it or not, we need farm workers. During the discussion someone brought up the issue of economy. With SB 1070 passed, we are waiting and seeing how Arizona's economy will be impacted. But with states with more agricultural labor, a bill like SB 1070 would surely devestate not just the state but the nation as well. Overall I think could have done better during the discussion but I only researched California's impact if a similiar bill was passed here.
